All by Myself

Last night, I had two comps for Velour and was excited to catch up with my friend Kristin, who I hadn’t seen in years. I offered her the ticket, and we made plans to enjoy the show together. Sadly, just hours before she was set to arrive, she tested positive for COVID and had to stay in LA. I was really bummed, both because I missed the chance to reconnect with her and because it made me realize how isolated I feel here. I couldn't find anyone else to join me, so I ended up going to the show alone. It was a stark reminder of how my circle has shrunk and how disconnected I feel from the life. Despite the letdown, the show must go on, and it did. There was a 50-minute delay due to technical difficulties, likely from the flying effects, but once it got going, the performance was fantastic. You wouldn’t have even known they’d been missing such a significant element. It was a bit of a mixed bag of emotions—disappointed at first but ultimately uplifted by how the team managed to deliver an awesome show under pressure.
