Child Support

I recently found a letter from my mom to my dad about how he didn’t pay child support for several years, and when he finally did, the amount was shockingly low for two kids. Reading that made me realize just how much my mom went through to raise my sister and me with very little money. I have to give her major props because, even though she tells us stories about how poor we were—returning pop bottles for cash and all that—my sister and I never felt it. We never wanted for anything, and she made sure we had what we needed while juggling a job and organizing babysitters. We had no idea how tough things were behind the scenes. So, thanks, Mom, for being an absolute rock. Clearly, that financial wizardry gene didn’t get passed down to me because I’m awful with money, but I’m forever grateful for what you did for us!
