Frustrated

Yesterday, I overheard my mom getting really frustrated with my dad, even calling him stupid. But despite all the mistreatment she's faced from him since they got divorced over 35 years ago, she still takes care of him. I don't feel sorry for my dad at all because I've seen firsthand how badly he treats people, including me, when I was helping him during his long illness. It really upsets me to see my mom and sister sticking by him, even after he's treated so many people badly, like his own sister, his brother's wife, his "lady friend," and me – he's even cut ties with us. It's obvious that trying to help him doesn't always work out well. Tomorrow, my mom's taking him to another hospital appointment where he'll be staying for the day. I get that he's sick, but therapy has helped me realize I can't let him keep messing up my life. After what I heard yesterday, I've been feeling really sick to my stomach. I don't get why my mom and sister keep helping him out, but I've decided to put myself first and distance myself from all the negativity he brings.
