Ghostbusters

Taking my nephew Colton, who's 10 years old, to see Ghostbusters today. Out of the blue, he started venting about Grandpa, calling him out for his attempts at being "cool" and how utterly unimpressed he was by it all. Colton shared how annoying he found Grandpa's jokes, which used to irk him, but now he simply brushes them off as juvenile. He imitated Grandpa's exaggerated fencing moves, mimicking him with a smirk. "I could totally beat him," Colton declared confidently, adding a jab at Grandpa's age, claiming he's "like 80." Although I had a multitude of thoughts on my father's behavior, I kept it simple, explaining to Colton that people who put others down are often dealing with their own insecurities or, frankly, they just aren't nice people.
