Leona

I watched the latest "We're Here" on Max today, and if you haven't yet, do. I love the show. The new season, with new Queens, is bringing to light the current issues around Trans and Drag rights in our country. Living in California, I sometimes feel a little removed from these struggles (except for comments on some of my posts). It is depressing and wild how the world is right now. In the last episode of this show, the cast had to suffer intense harassment and threats just so they could pull off their performance, which ended up taking place in a church. It made me starkly realize how incredibly fortunate I was to have Unity of San Luis Obispo and Leona Evans back up Kelrik's theatrical endeavors. This accepting church was a very nurturing environment, and because of it, we could do incredible shows, like "The Rocky Horror Show." Their acceptance and willingness to cooperate with us certainly must have impacted why our productions were so unique. What we got from Unity was not only an opportunity to show what we see but connect the cast and our audiences in a fantastic way. Their generosity and encouragement were instrumental in bringing my theatrical dreams to life, and I can't thank Leona and the congregation enough.
