Lyceum
Lately, I’ve been feeling this deep need to work on a show—it’s like an itch I can’t quite scratch—so I decided to reach out to the Lyceum Theater team to see if there was any chance they were reopening soon. To my surprise, they responded almost immediately, but the update was less than thrilling. The theater itself is practically done, but—plot twist—there’s no way to actually get into it. The entrance construction is going to take at least six more months, and the new "owners" don’t even have a timeline for when they’ll tackle that. So, no bookings, no shows—just a beautifully finished theater sitting empty.
It’s crazy how San Diego, this big, artsy city, doesn’t have any theaters that are easily rentable for staging a production. It’s like trying to put on a play in a city-sized maze with no exits. The whole situation has me feeling even more restless, like I’m stuck in an intermission that’s dragging on way too long.
