Mother's Day

On Mother's Day, I woke up and gathered some flowers from my mom's yard before starting to make blueberry pancakes. When she eventually woke up, she seemed to overlook the flowers, candy, and card I had left for her, as she hurried out to an AA meeting shortly after. Upon her return, we enjoyed the pancakes together before she suggested going to my sister's place. I opted to drive separately so I wouldn't have to spend the whole day there. However, I ended up falling asleep and woke up to a text from my sister asking if I was coming. I decided to go over two hours later and ended up playing in the pool with my nephews. Archie had several meltdowns during our game of collecting items, and Colton, always striving to win, seemed to exacerbate the situation. Eventually, Gabe lost his temper and jumped into the pool, yelling at Colton. It was uncomfortable, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for Colton, who seemed to constantly face criticism. After enduring about 30 minutes of tension, I decided it was best to leave. I can't help but feel a little sorry for Colton, who never seems to catch a break.
