My Birthday

Two months ago I was sitting in a dog park in San Diego waiting for my sister to call. I had just checked out of the Motel 6, had no money left and was ready to die. I hoped someone would take my puppy Talon, so she could have a better life unlike mine. It began to rain, I sat there crying as I had nowhere to go, no money and no fight left in me. I text my friend Melissa who within minutes, Venmo’d me $100 for gas and told me to get in the car and drive to her house in Arizona with absolutely nothing else.

This morning (at 2am) I woke up (after sleeping for nearly 15 hours yesterday) and came downstairs to see ALL THIS for my Birthday! What an amazing friend I have! She and her family have been nothing but supportive and kind to me as a family should be. They welcomed me into their home and have been beyond gracious and understanding for all the pain I have suffered being one of the many hidden homeless for the past 5 years. Thank you Beckstead family! Thank you for understanding things aren’t always what they seem.

They hired a babysitter tonight so we can go out, and for the first time, in a long time, I am excited for the day!
