Heartstoppers

I just saw that a new season of Heartstopper is coming out on Netflix this Thursday, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! It’s the cutest little gay show, and I can’t help but wish life had been more like that for me. Watching two people actually in love, where it’s not all about sex but instead just lots of kissing, hugging, and genuine affection, makes me long for a simpler, more innocent kind of love. Unfortunately, my experience was nothing like Charlie's story, or even like The Prom or Everybody's Talking About Jamie. Those stories make everything seem so full of joy, acceptance, and happy endings. But real life doesn't always play out like a feel-good musical. Still, watching these shows gives me hope and makes me imagine how different things could have been if the world had been a little kinder back then.
