On the Road
I felt so much anger and sadness when my dad kicked my dog. I had nowhere else to go, so I decided I would stay in the detached garage of his condo, which was about 200 feet away. Although it was just a bare room, I cleaned it up and fixed it up as best as I could. But no matter how hard I tried, the heat was unbearable and there wasn't even a bathroom or shower nearby. Every other day he would come by and open the garage door, without saying a word or acknowledging me, then leave me alone again in the stifling heat. Nothing could have been more torturous. Yet I still stayed until finally Melissa offered me $100 for gas money to take a trip out to Arizona and stay with her for a while. And that's exactly what I did.
