People Suck

Being a good person is hard work. Having empathy can be exhausting. Actually putting thought into how your actions influence other people requires energy. Being emotionally available makes you vulnerable, and vulnerable people are a lot more easy to hurt than those who aren’t transparent or constantly perpetuate a facade.

It takes a great deal of strength to have your feelings hurt by someone and not chew them out. It takes a great deal of strength to have class, and to not put the emotional work that you have to do on others.

The truth is, people hurt other people. If someone goes up to you and breaks your arm, you can’t make them fix it for you. You and your body have to make it heal. Were you the one who broke your arm? No. Are you the one who has to fix your arm? Yes. Is that fair? No. Is that life? Unfortunately, yes it is.

Just acknowledge that a lot of people aren’t willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears into becoming people with great character. Use this as a point of reference for when you meet someone who is truly wonderful and never take great people who worked hard to develop themselves for granted.

That’s my outlook on “why do people suck”. My best advice is to just be positive, work on yourself, be kind to others, but strong for yourself, and the right people will come to you.
