Sharon

When I heard that Sharon Mesker had passed away only a few weeks after my grandmother, I was devastated. Though we hadn’t talked in some time, she had always been so kind to me in our daily interactions while I ran Kelrik out of Unity. Her son Mike posted her wishes on Facebook shortly after her passing, which called for a big party with all of her different groups of friends and everyone singing and dancing. Despite being unsure if I should attend her memorial due to the immense sadness I had carried for the past 10 weeks, I decided to return to San Luis Obispo. Everyone at the memorial was incredibly warm and welcoming, which eased my worries about my return. It was an amazing celebration of Sharon's life, and I was even able to take home some of her jewelry as a keepsake. While attending the service brought its own set of emotions, it also gave me closure.
